Our Editorial Mission

OutfitNotes creates content around real wardrobe problems: what to wear, how to style it, what to buy, and what to skip. Our goal is practical, honest fashion guidance — not runway fantasy or sponsored hype.

Content Types

We publish three clearly labeled types of content:

1. Editorially Researched

Based on official product information, retailer specifications, sizing data, publicly available customer feedback, and independent editorial analysis. These articles do not claim hands-on testing or personal wear experience. They synthesize publicly available information to help readers make informed decisions. The majority of our content falls into this category.

2. Hands-On Tested

When we test products directly, articles include: the tester's identity, original photography, test duration, sizing reference, product source, and documented pros and cons. These articles are explicitly labeled "Hands-On Tested" and never fabricate testing methodology.

3. First Look

Preliminary analysis of new products or collections based on available specifications and brand information. These articles may be updated as more information becomes available and are not presented as comprehensive reviews.

How We Choose Products

Products are selected based on reader interest, search relevance, product availability, customer review patterns, and editorial judgment about fit, fabric, value, and styling versatility. Brands cannot pay to appear in our reviews or buying guides.

How We Research

For editorially researched articles, we consult official product pages, retailer specifications, size charts, fabric composition data, and aggregated customer feedback. We cross-reference multiple sources where possible and note when information is limited or uncertain.

How We Test

When testing is conducted, we evaluate fit, sizing accuracy, fabric feel and weight, construction quality, comfort, care behavior after washing, styling versatility, and repeat-wear value. Test articles disclose the product source, test period, and tester's body type or sizing reference.

How Products Are Obtained

Products featured on OutfitNotes may be: purchased independently by our editorial team; provided for review (clearly disclosed); or researched through public retailer and customer data without physical possession. The source is disclosed in each applicable article.

How Affiliate Links Work

Some links on OutfitNotes are affiliate links. If you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate relationships do not influence our ratings, recommendations, or editorial conclusions. Products are evaluated on their merits regardless of commission structure.

How Ratings Are Calculated

When ratings are assigned, they consider fit, fabric quality, construction, comfort, versatility, value for money, and care requirements. Ratings reflect editorial judgment based on available evidence and are not influenced by advertising or affiliate relationships.

How Sponsored Content Is Handled

Sponsored content, brand collaborations, and paid placements are clearly labeled as such. Sponsored content does not appear in our editorial reviews or buying guides. When a brand provides a product for review, this is disclosed in the article, but the brand does not review or approve our conclusions.

How Corrections Are Made

We correct errors promptly and transparently. When a significant factual correction is made, we add a note at the top of the article: "Correction: This article was updated on [date] to correct [specific issue]." Minor edits (formatting, typos) are made without correction notices.

How Articles Are Updated

We update articles when product specifications, pricing, availability, or other relevant information changes. Each article displays its last-updated date. Articles covering product prices, availability, and specifications are reviewed every 90 to 180 days.

How Conflicts of Interest Are Handled

Our editors do not accept gifts, payments, or incentives from brands in exchange for positive coverage. Affiliate revenue supports the site but does not dictate content. If a potential conflict of interest arises, it is disclosed in the relevant article.

AI-Assisted Content Policy

Our editorial team may use research and writing tools to help organize information and draft content. All AI-assisted content is reviewed, fact-checked, and edited by a human editor before publication. We do not publish unreviewed AI-generated content, and we never use AI to fabricate testing experiences, customer reviews, or product data.
